My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

“A spiritual Communion acts on the soul as blowing does on a cinder-covered fire which was about to go out. Whenever you feel your love of God growing cold, quickly make a spiritual Communion.’ ‘Quickly!’ There’s a sense of urgency here. The saints are trying to tell us that we should not limit our union with Christ in the Eucharist to sacramental Communion once a week, or even once a day. We need Christ’s living presence in our lives moment-by-moment to nourish us and protect us from sin, so we need to renew our union with Him regularly, especially any time we feel ourselves drifting away. Christ is not merely present in the Eucharist during Mass! The Eucharist is an ongoing fulfillment of Christ’s Gospel promise to remain with us: ‘Behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age’ (Mt. 28:20).” — Vinny Flynn, p. 98-9

The following policies were promulgated in 1991 and 1992 by then Archbishop Robert F. Sanchez, with additions and some minor revisions made by Archbishop Emeritus Michael J. Sheehan together with the Presbyteral Council in November of 1997, in October of 2001, and in September of 2005. In 2012, the policies were again reviewed and updated, based primarily on changes in liturgical books.

Marriage Policy

The following guidelines on marriage policy within the Archdiocese of Santa Fe are a revision of norms issued the Spring of 1987.

The revised guidelines reflect the general requirements of the Catholic Church’s 1983 Code of Canon Law and adopted policy and directives of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe with respect to marriage over the last eight years.

The policy set forth within seeks the best possible pastoral care for the bride and groom as well as the needs of the Catholic Community. Good sound marriage do not happen; they are created and sustained by the partnership of husband, wife and God. The policy of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe for marriage seeks careful and sound preparation of couples for entering marital life.(For complete information on policy, click here.)
