“Sacrifice yourselves for sinners and say often whenever you make a sacrifice: ‘O Jesus, it is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.’ (Our Lady, July 13, 1917) “Pray much and make sacrifices for sinners, for many souls go to hell because there is no one to make sacrifices for them.” (Our Lady, August 19, 1917) (Sunday Visitor)

What is a sacrifice?

Here are a couple different definitions:

Sacrifice- a loss of something you give up usually for the sake of a cause that is more important or worthy.

Sacrifice- to give up something that is valuable to you in order to help another person or cause.

Sacrifice is not easy, and if it was it would NOT be a sacrifice.  This is an opportunity to challenge yourself to see what you can do for a sacrifice.

At Fatima, Mary asked us to make sacrifices so the others will be saved. What does this mean to you?  Can you help by making sacrifices?  What kind of sacrifices can you make?

Below is some forms you can download.

Here are a few ideas please mark the ones that you think you can commit to:

_____On the 13th of each month take 15 minutes to pray for peace  within your own family as well as the world.

_____ Give of your time. Volunteer at church, serve others with a joyful heart so that

people are inspired by your actions.

_____ Take 30 minutes to say the Rosary once a month for those who

have no Christian faith.

_____ Set time aside when you are usually on your phone looking

at YouTube or watching TV to pray for those who are

struggling with their faith.

_____ Do not eat any kind of junk food or drink soda for a day, a weekend or a week as

a sacrifice for teens who are struggling with their parents, siblings, or friends.

_____ At your own parish, actively listen for opportunities to help the community.

_____ Take 15 minutes to have a nice uplifting conversation with one of your siblings.

_____ Take time to do something that you know will make your parents happy like clean your room, wash the dishes, or pick up the yard.

_____ Take time to call someone you haven’t talked to in a while to see how they are  doing.

_____ Ask to go to church early, light a candle and pray for someone

you don’t know very well.

_____ Ask to go to church early and pray for the intentions of all the

candles that are already lit.

_____ Ask your favorite relative, a godparent of good friend to say a

Rosary with you once a week.

_____ Go through your own clothing and give away items you dont

use anymore to those in need.

_____ Instead of making plans to go to a movie make plans to volunteer at a homeless shelter or make plans to clean an elderly neighbors yard.

_____ Do something nice for a complete stranger

_____ Ask your family to go to the 48th Annual Rosary Rally at Isotopes Park on Sunday October 1st.

This should be very personal to you. What other ways can you sacrifice for others?

Messages of Fatima

Requests from Our Lady at Fatima

  1. Offer whatever hardships and difficulties you may have to God every day. Pray daily and offer up stresses and heartaches you are suffering from because of your own sins, also for the sins of others, and for the conversion of all sinners.
  2. Pray part of the Rosary daily while meditating on the Mysteries in reparation for sin, for the conversion of sinners, and for world peace.
  3. Wear the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel as both a sign and a reminder of your consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and as a protection against the snares of Satan.
  4. Practice the devotion of the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturday of each month, which has come to be popularly known as the 1st Saturday Devotion. (This includes: going to Confession, receiving Holy Communion worthily, praying five decades of the Rosary and lastly, sit in the company of Our Lady for 15 minutes while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary.)
  5. Share the Message of Fatima to others.  Since much of the world barely acknowledges Mary if at all, Catholics have a much greater responsibility to Catholics to complete these requests. We Catholics, who DO NOT worship her but honor her and ask for her guidance and intercession. We Catholics who wear scapulars and consecrate our lives to Mary, who pray the rosary, and who may receive the sacraments of Confession and Holy Communion at any time carry the burden of fulfilling the request of Our Lady. This is work and a sacrifice and will be no easy task. Good thing Our Lady has prepared us with the perfect weapons for this spiritual warfare.  Unless the Catholics of the world take up these weapons, use them often, and well, the world will continue to fall victim to the destruction and terror of war.

The 5-Month Challenge

May- Read the story of Fatima and begin a daily habit of praying and offering

up struggles and heartaches in your life as well for others.

June-One day a week pray 5 decades of the Rosary and meditate on the

mysteries of the Rosary as a sacrifice for the conversion of sinners

and for world peace.

July-Go out and find a Brown Scapular from our Lady of Mt Carmel for

2 reasons: as a reminder as consecration to the Immaculate Heart of

If not can you get one?

August– Begin a First Saturday Devotion- Our Virgin Mother promises to

aide us in our times of need and in our hour of death. Is the First Sunday Devotion something you can make time for?

September– Our Lady shared 3 secrets with the three shepherd children.

All of them were visions showing the children what would happen if people would not repent for their sins. People may find these visions a bit scary but there is hope. We as Catholics can make the difference by praying the rosary, praying for peace, practicing the First Saturday Devotion, being good active Catholics and spreading the story of Fatima and the Gospel. Can you share this incredible story with someone? How can you become more active in your faith?

October– The Miracle of the Sun happened on October 13, 1917 and witnessed

by more than 70,000 people. Mary promised the three shepherd children that she would perform a miracle on that day. Thousands of people traveled to see this miracle.  Our Lady did appear to the children, requested a chapel be built there in her honor, and asked that people to pray the Rosary every day.  The 70,000 other people saw the Miracle of the Sun.  People have tried scientifically to explain this event for years.  Read the accounts and see what you think.
