The Office of Faith Formation is offering the following workshops:

The Church of the 21st Century

      The People of God: The Church in the 21st Century

  • Session 1: The Church Today in Faith and Community

Explore the meaning of Church through the images offered in Scripture, Vatican II documents, and recent Church documents in order to deepen our appreciation for who we are as the people of God.

  • Session 2: The Church Today in Worship and Sacramental Life

Invite the People of God to a deeper practice of the Liturgy and to discover the celebration of the sacraments as a power to move the saving action of Christ into the world today.

  • Session 3: The Church Today in Moral Decision Making

Explore and apply the tradition of the church regarding the theological and cardinal virtues, conscience formation, and the three components of Moral Decision Making (object, intention, and circumstance-CCC #1751-1755) to our personal life choices in society today.

  • Session 4: The Church Today: from Baptismal Commitment to Social Responsibility.

Explore ways of fulfilling our Baptismal commitment to live the Gospel by integrating the seven components of Catholic Social Teaching and other tools for discerning modern issues.

  • Session 5: The Church Today in Social Concerns, Awareness, and Justice

Explore the application of the Core principles of Social Justice and the Dignity of Human Life as reflective of our current time.

This is the fourth of the Basic Theology courses of the Archdiocese required for Catechetical Certification.  It examines the Church today in Faith and Community, in Sacramental Life and Worship, in Moral Decision Making,  in Social Justice concerns and awareness.

  • The Effective Catechetical Leader:  Part IV  Excellence in Ministry

This excellent series of leadership resources is preparing Directors of Religious Education for our parishes for comprehensive ministry.  This semester, we focus on how to form collaborative advisory boards, engage parents’ support, planning within the flow of the liturgical year, and operational aspects of this ministry.

Time:             August 12 and 19, in-person group 10:00 am – Noon.

  • Introduction to Scripture

This is the first of the Basic Theology courses of the Archdiocese required for Catechetical Certification.  It examines the process of how the Bible was formed, highlights of the Jewish First Testament and Gospels, the life and times of Jesus, and the early Church and early Christian writings after the Gospel.
